So you may have been wondering—what exactly do emo kids wear? Maybe you’ve heard of them several times before. Maybe you like the way that they dress but you can’t quite put your finger on how exactly they pull it off. So what do you do? Well, this is here to help.
Emo girls and guys wear fairly similar things. They both favor tight skinny jeans,

First of all, the jeans. Most emo kids like darker colors mixed together. For example, they might have black skinny jeans and a red shirt or the other way around. Ironically, it’s usually the other way around. Jeans that have zippers or chains or random buttons in places they aren’t supposed to be are also fairly popular.
Shirts are a bit different. There are all sorts of shirts that emo kids like to wear, but band shirts definitely rank in the top. For example, if an emo girl or guy likes Asking Alexandria or a miscellaneous indie band, well, they’re probably going to buy a shirt with their name on it. Keep in mind that a lot of emos like to give the illusion that they have gone to several concerts.
Accessories are important too. Arm warmers are big, jelly bands are pretty big, silly bands are becoming more and more popular, and necklaces are also fairly big. Many emo kids like to collect Monster tabs from their energy drinks. (It may or may not be a rite of passage of some sort…?) They then proceed to wear them on a piece of yarn as a necklace or bracelet.
Makeup is also important—if you don’t wear makeup, that’s fine. But a lot of emos do. Black eyeliner is the most important element of emo makeup, but not the only.
